Providence: A Sermon Series on the Book of Ruth

Details matter. Our lives are the culmination of small and insignificant events, all of them leading you to where you are today. All of them leading you through pain and pleasure, tears and smiles, sickness and health. Often, we think of these events as chance or luck, whether good or bad. It’s permeated into our cultural language. “Good luck!” We say. “What are the chances?” We ask. Seldom do we stop and think about the fact that everything in our life, both significant and insignificant, is a result of God’s providential hand moving.

Over the next 5-weeks, we’ll slow down and take the time to study the Book of Ruth. In Ruth, we’ll learn and be reminded of God’s providential hand in all of life—and we’ll learn that our God is a good God with a good plan for those whom he loves.

Below is a video created to promote the Ruth series. It’s intense and hopefully a visceral reminder of how little details can providentially have big implications.

WOW. Great job to the team who put this together. I can’t wait to hear about “providence” and the book of Ruth!!

  7. Very, very well done. I honestly was positive that the girl was going to commit suicide, she looked lost and completely detached from life. GREAT acting.

As it got closer to the end, I was just terrified that he was going to walk in and she was going to kill herself right as he was about to walk in, and he would be at the wrong house so she would actually go through with it. The way this was put together and advertised it made it seem like something bad could happen by not paying attention to the details. Rather, I absolutely love how it just shows that while details matter to no end, they don’t always matter in the way you think they do. Just a fantastic video!!

It is amazing how God works for our good and His glory. I too was at that point where the girl was but God orchestrated HIS will and well I am still here. If He is with us who can be against us?!!!
