Values

“The values of Redemption Church are our guiding principals for living out the unique way in which God has called us to make disciples in the State of Arizona.”

More on…

We value “All of Life”

Redemption Church believes the statement that “Jesus Christ is Lord of All or He is not Lord at all.” We value all of life from the workplace to the playground. The local church plays the strategic role of training people “unto life” in all of its facets, but we don’t believe the church’s focus is to be on itself but rather on God and the world as God intends it to be. This value moves us to train, teach, staff, and program in such a way as to make God’s world better—not just the church.

Spirit Led

Only by abiding in Christ will we bear any fruit. Apart from Jesus we can to nothing. Therefore, we value prayerful dependence upon God. We trust God to lead and power us in our planning, staffing, and ministry. We pray before we plan, listen before we act, reflect before we implement, and ask when we desire. In following the model of our Lord, we seek to “do only what we see and hear our Father doing.”

Proclamation

We believe that “without faith it is impossible to please God” and that “faith comes from hearing and hearing by the word of God.” Therefore, we value the continual proclamation of the Word of God. We preach the Bible authoritatively and exegetically and train our people to make God and His gospel a part of everyday conversation.

Demonstration

True theology is lived theology. We must be doers of the word—not just hearers. We are an action-oriented church. Everything we do serves to propel our people into acting more like Christ. We evaluate our all of our ministries and staff based upon how they are helping our people reenact the gospel in their everyday lives. This commitment moves us to cross boundaries in our care for the vulnerable and to be courageous in our confrontation of idolatry and injustice.

Diversity

God desires His Kingdom to be on earth as it is in heaven. Therefore, we value diversity. The Kingdom demands that the church integrate generations, economic classes, and ethnicities. We judge our success based upon how our people are crossing boundaries and caring for the “other.” We intentionally seek to staff and plant ministry based upon our desire to look like our city.

Leadership

Strong churches have leaders at all levels. We place a priority on developing leaders in the home, marketplace, and the church. Leadership takes on many forms, but it’s developed in relationship and on the job and models Christ-like service and sacrifice. We judge our success and failure based upon how we raise up leaders at all levels and in all places.

Training

The local church exists as an equipping station. Therefore, we value training. Training is about living. So, everything we do as a church is for the purpose of training our people to live the gospel. Gospel living is learned through indoctrination but also through initiation. We see that the evangelical church in the West has been great and too often satisfied with indoctrination at the expense of initiation. Because of this Redemption always trains in connection with community and action.
